What we commonly call man — the eating, drinking, planting, counting man,
does not as we know him — represent himself, but misrepresents himself.
Him we do not respect.
But the Soul, whose organ he is,
would he let it appear through his action, would make our knees bend.
When it breathes through his intellect it is genius.
When it breathes through his will it is virtue.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
This is an excerpt from Emerson’s poem, The Oversoul. Here he points to ‘man as we know him’ and to ‘his soul’ distinguishing between two different parts of us. We call those two parts ego and Essence. As we encounter Essence in the world, Emerson notes that it will “Make our knees bend.”
The following videos, recordings, articles and blog postings made our knees bend, and we would like to share that with you. So often in life we blow by miraculous moments that touch our hearts.
This page is intended to stop and admire those moments for what they are…
