Is a “home” game the same as the comfort zone?
The Chicago Blackhawks are headed out of town for
their sixth game in the playoffs for the Stanley Cup.
First they played two home games and won; went to
Philly and lost two games and then came home last
night and won again. Now they’re headed back to
Philadelphia and I’ll be curious to see what happens.
There’s a pattern emerging here which reflects that when
the Hawks get out of their comfort zone, they lose.
I know what that’s like…don’t you? I know how easy it is
to do well when I’m in my comfort zone and everyone
is cheering me on and everyone likes me. But what happens
when I get out of the comfy place and I’m in a new territory
where things aren’t so comfortable and everyone doesn’t agree with me?
Whenever I leave my comfort zone I get a little shaky
and the temptation is to turn back. But I have found that
the “Edge of Possibility” is not only where the win is,
it’s where my aliveness is…where my growth is…where my
life is!
How about you? Where is your aliveness? Your growth?
Your excitement with life? Where do you want to stretch
and what is your version of the Stanley Cup????
I encourage you not to go “home” to the comfort zone or
the place you know so well; but instead, to go on a new
adventure…to stretch out into the unknown and venture out
to a new place of aliveness.
Are you willing to step outside your comfort zone even
when the Trickster voice inside your head and friends are
saying “Don’t do it, it’s risky, you could fail?”
Are you willing to risk something for the sake of having a
winning, vibrant and alive life??? Because then isn’t it true
that even if you were to fail, you’d still be a winner?
It will be exciting when the Hawks win because it’s been
close to 50 years since they’ve won the Stanley Cup. And,
one thing is sure…the Flyers aren’t going to give them the
Cup; they are going to have to give it all they’ve got and go
for it!
How are you going to win the game called “your life?” We
know that no one is going to hand you what you want in life;
you’re going to have to go for it!!
Don’t chance losing a life-time of learning, fun and aliveness
because of your comfort zone…comfort zones are killers.
