Radical Leadership Required!

If we were ever needed as Radical Leaders, if radical principles of responsibility and integrity were ever needed, now is the time.  How do we have IMPACT NOW?

Radical means rooted, grounded, a return to fundamental, foundational basic principles; extreme and drastic.  This is what’s required NOW!  That we return to our origin, remember who we are — when we are not scared and living in victimhood, but instead responsible and choosing who will be NOW, in the middle of tough times and how do we work together to find our way out of this mess we’re in because WE’RE ALL IN IT!  I don’t care who you are or how much money you have…this is a WE challenge and it will require EACH OF US to find the openings, possibilities and miracles that are available with this shift in the economy.

Suze Orman got on the news last night and shared that people who have gone into negative amortization on their mortgages should stop paying their mortgage money and utilities, default on their loans and save that money to buy the house next door when they are kicked out.  She said they “should” do this “because the banks aren’t negotiating with people to stay in their homes.”  This is an irresponsible, victim position and it does not take into consideration that banks are us — we’re trying to throw money down the black hole that is created by people not paying their mortgages and this will just accelerate the rate at which that happens and could create a depression.

These times do not require outdated leadership or incremental leadership; they require RADICAL, OUTRAGEOUS LEADERSHIP!

The kind of leadership which has never existed before because it hasn’t been required before…or maybe it has.  Let’s take a moment to return to the words our forefathers wrote in The Constitution of the United States in which they said, “We the people of the United States…”  These are the words that now need to ring in our ears while we place our hand across our chest and pledge allegiance to the United States, to God and our Country and to the World in Which We Live and the world we are responsible for together.

There is no such thing as, “the banks, the government, the stock market.”  WE ARE the bank, the government, the stock market.  It’s now ALL OF US who will either recreate our future or let the circumstances create us (and we already have a glimpse of what that means).

The question I have for each of us as leaders is:  What can I do to be responsible for my word, my finances, my world right in this moment?  The answer to that will vary for each person but it is for each of us to look at the “…next right move” and to start to lean in on and co-create with our neighbors the answers to these questions.  If we ever needed a “we” now is the time and the truth of that matter is that we are ONE!

I would love your thoughts and comments!!!!!

  • Thanks for a great a post!

I cringe and change channels when I hear financial advice from self proclaimed experts blaming banks, governments, etc for the financial situations that many people have chosen into.

What am I doing to be responsible for my finances and have impact?

I chose to write a personal finance application that is freely available to anyone who “chooses” to use it. It’s not glamorous, but the effort it takes to enter and track finances does create awareness, http://sourceforge.net/projects/jgnash/. AND, I’m proud of it and the impact it is having on others lives!
